Cereal Ingredients, Inc. is a privately held, employee-owned specialty ingredients manufacturer that was established in 1990 by Robert Hatch to research, develop and market unique, new food ingredients. The Company holds multiple worldwide product and process patents.

After 14 years in Kansas City, the Company completed a new building in March 2005, located in Leavenworth, Kansas. In referring to the new plant Hatch says, “This facility triples our productive capacity and allows us to respond to our customers’ needs more quickly and efficiently. In addition to increased capacity, the Leavenworth facility houses our corporate headquarters, R&D, and our administrative and sales functions.”

The Company produces food particulates that add flavor, texture and color to baked goods and cereals, as well as pre-blended mixes to create added flavor and swirl effects in bread products. Called Flav-R-Bites®, the particles are specially formulated for specific client needs, are offered in a variety of sizes, flavors and textures, and are produced using CII’s patented product and process technology. In addition to baked goods and cereals, other food applications include ice cream, nutritional foods, streusel, and other crunches and toppings.

CII’s newest product lines, Nutri-Bites® and Nutri-Crisps®, are produced in a second Leavenworth facility which came on-line in June 2008. These products consist of expanded pieces with special nutritional qualities such as extra levels of protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Most Nutri-Bites are used in high nutrition food bars and snacks.

According to Executive Vice President, Jim Thomasson, “Unlike most fat-based or sugar-based particles, our Flav-R-Bites and Nutri-Bites stand up to heat, moisture and even extended exposure to the hot-moist processing environments particularly common to the baking industry.”

CII products are sold without trans fat formulations and are available in GMO, Non-GMO, gluten-free, and organic formulations. The products are all certified for food purity with the majority certified Kosher/Parve and the balance certified Kosher/Dairy or produced under the Islamic certification, Halal. Additionally, CII has achieved an “A” rating from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety.
